I'm starting to think I was the only one feeling the original BOATS. The album is crazy in the whip. I don't understand how it gets so much hate

its the music industrys fault. they have absolutely no artistic integrity. its all about can we make a profit off this guy. no faith in good music anymore. music in general sucks.

Wack music has always been around. But in 2013, Trinidad Jame$ wants us to respect his music or else (this is from his Breakfast Club interview).

Garbage music always sold. Problem is dudes are pirating everything in sight. So why drop a skilled emcee that only a few people will buy?

Here's the best part, garbage music are barely going gold, but those 360 deals makes it still worth dropping a 2Chainz album. Now, if he starts doing movies, the record label take a cut of that too. If he hits the powerball, the record label get a cut of that too. :yayo:

those 360 deals are the brutal. they straight up own you and x% of whatever money you ever make.

but the record labels aren't even the same. go to one pre2000s and you'll see a bunch of young guys like me working there tryna find good artists out there and give them a shot. now its corporate guys looking for who can sell and what gimmick to use to make him a viable artist.

yeah pirating definitely changed the game, but good music still sells, especially over time. you may have an artist who drops a good album and doesn't sell immediately, but finds his sound around the second or third album and then fans go back and pick up the first ones. of course pop artists come and go every few years, but the genre specific artists usually had a lot longer rope to be creative. now if u dont sell whatever your magic number is on the first album you get dropped.
