I had mine for 11 years and I don't regret it. It definitely is like removing lots of baggage. Someone said locs hold memories and it's true physically and spiritually.

The cutting of hair is like a brand new start. I say do it especially for initiation.

Initiation will definitely require it. I also don't feel like the man I used to be or that the reasons I got my locs apply anymore.

Not exactly free form since mine have a foundation from double strand twist, but I tend to go with the "wild" look a lot inbetween getting my roots done every 3-4 months

I think I need a change. I need to refresh myself and I think my memories locked in these locks might be holding me back.

Might as well cut it all off and start over. I had the ice cube afro and i just kept growing it. I'm not sure how I'd look with dreads or super long hair in general.
