I don't blame them because they're crack babies, I blame their parents. I'm a product of the lost generation as well. Most of my childhood friends are dead or in prison. Nobody cared about us, they were too busy smoking crack rocks, having orgies and dancing at the disco ball. I raised myself. It just made me stronger though, I turned it into a positive.
If a child is never shown any love throughout his/her adolescence years, he/she most likely will eventually become a MONSTER (somebody you don't wanna see late at night or period) but if that individual channels their anger and stays strong they can become a very powerful force. One of my childhood friends couldn't handle it and ended up taking his own life last week(blew his brains out) I miss that guy.

True. But you also have to eventually take responsibility for yourselves, which is why blame is pointless.

If people worked on improving themselves and helping those around them, progress could be made. Then again, only those who are willing to change will be open to it.

I don't have a rebuttal for that sista, I agree. We're on the same page

Mental Illness is a very serious problem that needs to be discussed. But a lot of people don't have anyone to talk too. So they have conversations with themselves, a bottle of liquor and a loaded gun.
There is always TOMORROW, better days are ahead

Sooo true! Especially, in the black community and the hood. It's better than it was before but there's still a long way to go.

I read that many folks growing up in the hood have a form of PTSD from growing up in what is essentially a war zone. Not to mention, that many of them are have a stunted sense of self-worth. When you see most of your peers, die, get locked up, strung out or get stuck with broken families you get not only depressed but you don't feel as if you have much a future so you tend to act more reckless.

It's a stressful environment and many kids aren't taught how to cope and deal with emotional and mental issues in a healthy way. When all of that is going on, it's not surprising that these kids can't focus on learning and retaining information taught at a school that doesn't have much faith in them and just passes them on through the system.
