Too many What Ifs...
Tyson beats pre- Manny Lennox Lewis easily, without setbacks Tyson would be a serious threat into the late 90's, how much would be dependent upon age, wear/tear and # of tough fights.

Tyson would have beaten Lewis if they met in the early 90s. It would have been a boring decision with Lewis just trying to avoid getting KOed.
Lewis and Tyson sparred in Catskill as teenagers. Atlas said Lennox was just wrong for Mike.

Mike would not have dominated him, but Lennox would have been scared and just trying to avoid getting KOed. It would have a boring fight, like Tyson-Tucker or Tyson-Smith.

Mike Tyson's career can be summed up as both overrated & underrated..the first half of his career was somewhat extraordinary and great status..2nd half into post prison turned into pure spectacle, banned for 2 years, WWE stint, add in the come back part 2 and add the No contests..
Went ugly!

His resume is the most handpicked and he lost every major matchup in his career, got destroyed and completely broken down in every big name fight he had

With that said, he was the most talented and naturally gifted of our lifetime (still)

And despite this his catalog is filled with most cherrypicks possible, like we’re talking about nearly every fight and then he just rose through the handful of mediocre talents at the top of the rankings before being placed in matchups that actually mattered, and he lost every single one of those as well as any other match that turned into a fight

I thought Teddy Atlas was a hater when he said this but I watched his whole career and confirmed it myself, despite not even considering it initially

He was actively campaigned in one of the best championship campaigns ever but this was because of the rate he was going at, not the fighters he faced. Once he got up to the top of the division he still was showing that he was levels above

But that was until discipline waned, focus splintered

One of the biggest names in boxing history has a name and legacy that is built off the residuals of a reputation that was built over cherrypicks - and in that sense he had earned a comic book superhero level aura

Found the clip and time stamp where Teddy Atlas says this. When I heard him say this I thought this was hater lifetime achievement award status but I get it now after watching

You gotta understand - even people that are not casual boxing fans, people activively following the sport - they rarely are going to go back and watch a fighters entire catalog of fights (catalog = retired / resume = active) . They know all of their favorite fighters resume but they know legends based on what they've seen in highlight reels. If you see a highlight reel with any footage of Mike Tyson past his prime that was him in diminished Floor Jordan era of his career having flash in the pan glimpses of his former self. By a certain time in his career he was almost a tribute act of himself and people were showing up to see if "whether they got glimpses of former Tyson" or if he was going to descend into chaos.

If you get the time I encourage you to find the playlists on YouTube that allow you to watch fighters entire careers in order. We are the first generation that can do that. If they are smart they will begin buying up the rights to boxing film catalogs and adding them to the Ring TV streaming service or something

Every house should have a box set of all 50 Mayweather fights

I'm not so sure Holyfield beats him later in 91 or 92. Tyson looked like he was getting serious with his training leading up to the second Razor fight and if I'm remembering correctly he was using his technical skills in that fight. And at the weight he was in the Bert Cooper fight, I don't think he would be able to muscle Tyson around like he did when they finally fought.

I think Ferdie Pacheco was a bit too harsh in his assessment of Tyson, but I can't stop laughing at this shyt.
