Yeah but we are trying to go to neighboring planets. The tech required to travel across the galaxy would break our laws of physics. They would be so far beyond what we are doing today its crazy. There is no way to actually explain the difference in tech between us and them, the comparison doesn't exist. Even if we compare a cave man to the smartest dude on the planet today, that still pales in comparison to how far ahead of us they would be.
Even if they were right next door in the neighboring star system it would take years moving at the speed of light (which is theoretically impossible) to get here. Just making it to earth would mean they are like gods compared to us. I can't see a being like that crashing lol.
Humans have been here for a blip of time. We've sent our drones to Mars in the 60 years since we started trying to hit outer space. And Musk is trying to send people up there as we speak. Imagine what we'd be in 10,000 years... 100,000... 1,000,000,000,000
We don't know how old these planets are, how old their lifeforms are, what physics or materials are in play, nor what they've discovered.
