A lot of stuff might have gone over our heads in K-12. Looking back now, in the 7th or 8th grade my English teacher used to say some crazy off the wall racist shut but hide it under the guise of it being apart of the lesson plan or being ironic. Our class read Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry and I remember her asking the class "Why did the blacks have to walk to school? Because they were too poor and...." some shyt she said. And on one occasion we had daily vocabulary words and one instance it was "blackmail." So she said she's gonna use that word in a sentence: "Blackmails are a menace." Looking back I knew she was tryna be slick but didn't fully grasp her bigotry.

We were in 6th grade on our way to the basketball courts
And I had a geometry teacher in high school who was always proud to say he was a redneck, and told us this origin story of the term redneck coming from slaver owners who's neck would get red from being in the sun all day whipping slaves.

Had a teacher bring up blood diseases (the topic was bloodsugar levels), teacher randomly brings up sickle cell then immediately follows up with "It's most commonly found in African American males".
That may be true but it had nothing to do with the current topic, as soon as he said it the class got awkward with silence.

I think I had said something like: " What about the innocent people in jail."
Her reply was "Yeah, but you can't think about it like that. There are more bad people in jail.
She also said later on that "And things are getting better, racism is disappearing..."
I knew she was on some bullshyt, but I couldn't really grasp how wrong she was, or how to counter.

A racist white teacher told the class that just because rappers were good with lyrics and rhymes did not mean that they were intelligent. That was my freshman year in high school.
Freshman year of high school (2012-2013), my World History teacher got deployed to Afghanistan in October. Our sub was a white dude that LITERALLY looked like the Michelin Man. A Puerto Rican nikka in my class was doing some disruptive shyt (can't remember exactly what) this mothafukka's face got red as shyt and said "GODDAMMIT DANIEL, WHEN YOU DROP OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO? SELL CRACK COCAINE? BECOME A RAPPER LIKE LIL JON? GET THE fukk OUT OF MY CLASSROOM!" That shyt had everyone looking like

.Thing is now that I think about it. The younger white women teachers was always doing the most, especially below 6th grade.
Nobody questions shyt or has the mentality to do so for the most part.
