Alot of these artists(Afro beats, K-pop) they only successful because they are representing their country/culture and their fans like to see their own represented but the talent is Meh.
Then there are real "Talent Acts" that are amongst the best in the world(Prince, Michael Jackson, Pavarotti, Adelle, Beyonce, 2pac, Jay-Z, Earth Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, Nas etc).
Take K-Pop for example, all i see is Asian men imitating Black American R&B groups from the 90s, i don't speak the language, i'm not a weeb or Asian, why should i get hype over this? Only Asians & Weebs would get hype over this because it is a "Representation Act".
In Afrobeats how do i differentiate or measure a talented Afro beats artist to an average? What am i looking for? Singing ability, Lyrics, Beats, Dance, Jollof Eating? I don't know the difference between any artists..
Who is the Ghost Face Killah of Afrobeats?
Alot of these "Representation Acts" is background music.
