In retrospect it's kind of amazing how much effect Embiid's initial foot injury had on the league.

We know the story Embiid injures his foot before the draft and Cleveland passes up on him.

What happens though if he doesn't break his foot?

-One assumes Lebron still ends up going back to Cleveland but is Joel's name on the letter to SI?

- Does Cleveland trade for Love? It's easier to digest trading another wing when the best player in the league joins the team and the other wing spot has a top 4 pick in Waiters.

- If yall recall around this time there was some noise about a potential Klay for Love deal between Min and GS. Surely the Warriors with Love is a much different team than with Klay.

- Minny with either Love or Klay would almost assuredly have a better record than with Wiggins.(Klay + Lavine a bizzaro world alternative universe beige brothers). Which means KAT doesn't end up in Minnesota....maybe he ends up with the Lakers or the 76ers.

- What happens with Jr and Shump. IIRC at the time JR and Shump were considered kind of throwaways to get Mozgov cause of the desperate need for size. Do the Cavs get those two wings still? How sway? If Embiid were healthy the Cavs draft him and keep him, they play Thompson at the 4 and essentially have the same type of frontcourt they have now. I think Embiid is a little more perimeter oriented playing with LeBron, but still be able to score on the block.

If he were healthy and the Cavs had him they'd be the favorites, he's a generational talent and in a fictional universe where he's healthy & teamed up with Kyrie & LeBron they'd run through the league as he was the best rim protector in the NBA this season.

True I find this one particularly interesting because it effects probably the best team in the league and it's fairly recent. Like he was legit the consensus #1 pick...I remember there were some blood issues and age whispers but he was going to be the pick regardless and them picking Wiggins had a direct impact on getting Love.

Embiid's workout and interview in Cleveland last week were major successes, according to sources close to the Cavs. Embiid did a full workout there in front of the Cavs' front office and owner Dan Gilbert. Multiple sources said that the team was blown away with the workout. Embiid even ended one session by launching and nailing a series of 3s.
