In retrospect this was a teachable moment for Chris Rock and he blew it.

What Will did was wrong. He apologized. Rock should’ve sat down with him and squashed it. And use that moment to get money together. Instead he ran to Netflix for $40 million and perpetuated division within the black community. People say Chris Rock won because he got the bag, but if he got $40 million, how much did those CAC at Netflix get? They profited off of Rock talking shyt about Smith and a bunch of other people, some who aren’t even alive to defend themselves.

Instead Rock could’ve showed the world, two black men can come together and squash the beef. And as far as the “entanglement” shyt goes, they put it out there as opposed to blogs and media outlets “exposing” shyt. I know people are hot because it’s a story they couldn’t break. It really took the pop out of it. So even now when people bring it up, it doesn’t really have the same sting, because Will and Jada were in the same room discussing it in front of the world. They had all the power. Another teachable moment.

Chris doesn't have to settle anything if he doesn't want to. It's clear that Will's going to have to wait a while for forgiveness. Chris was embarrassed in front of a worldwide audience by someone he thought was his friend. Then he had to watch that friend accept an award and party right after like it didn't even happen.

I don't know why people are trying to make it seem like Chris should have done X and Y. He's one of the greatest comedians of all-time. The fact that people are legitimately confused and even upset that he has jokes about the situation is ridiculous to me. Didn't he already say that he wouldn't talk about the slap unless he was being paid for it? He took some time to work out his feelings, created new material, and found a way to profit off of the embarrassing moment in the area that he excels at. He already said he's not a victim and didn't entertain going to Oprah or Gayle to talk about it, even though I'm sure he was offered interviews. He handled things on his own terms.

And about the entanglement thing......nobody asked Will and Jada to talk about it. Usually when celebrities are caught up in scandals, they want them to go away ASAP because they're distracting and take time away from their work. You rarely see celebrities come out and address something like this unless it's such a huge story, they have no choice to. And you especially don't see them bring more drama and attention on themselves by discussing the situation on their own. Nobody respects Will and Jada more for that interview. It was just meme material, and that's why Chris addressed it at his show. The situation was ridiculous and he called them out on it. It's obvious it did nothing to control the narrative because Will and Jada were 100% offended by the special.

Will this beef get settled eventually? Of course, it will. But now's not the time.

Will slapped that man, won that award and went partying afterwards. Why wasn’t it a reachable moment for Will Smith? They were treating him like he was slapped. I have no problem with how Chris handled it.
Just didn’t like the division it caused. Like in this thread. I’m being attacked for having a conflicting opinion.

And I don’t like the fact that people outside the black community are profiting from it. Will got banned from the Oscars and crucified in the media. He also apologized. Rock got the proper victim treatment. A more positive reaction would’ve been garnered if they both would’ve sat down squashed it and dapped it up.

What does this have to do with the black community? Why is it that black people, especially black men, can't do jack shyt without accusations that we're harming the community, ignoring the community, etc. A dude said some dumb should about a guy's wife and got slapped. That's happened countless times in history, only difference here is that it was on live television. Who cares. They're both rich as fukk and Chris - while clearly an a$$hole - deserved an opportunity to address it however he wants. And Will deserves an opportunity to respond however he wants as well.
