The South gets alot of shyt for producing one hit wonders/repetitive trap rappers over the past years but on the flip side of that, most of the realest socially conscious emcees that debuted in the 2000s come from the South...

Phonte
Killer Mike
stic.man of dead prez
Jay Electronica
David Banner
K.R.I.T.
Cole

I ain't just speaking musically either. Some of these brothers are on the frontlines in regards to social justice, community outreach, etc. Especially Banner and Killer Mike. Hell, Cole was out there during the Ferguson riots and the Million Man March.

:salute:to my brothas below the Mason-Dixon Line who really outchea and not just blowin smoke with big words and Malcolm X/Marcus Garvey references.

the best though? mos def, talib kweli, common, roots, lupe, and de la were all active during the 2000s breh.

And since you're throwing underground rappers into your list I'll just add OneBelLo and binary star too.

But all of the dudes you named are good in my book so no shade :manny:

Not a sneak diss. I'm alluding to the typical criticism people give the South but refusing to acknowledge that the South is more than what they say it is.

I'm referring to it, not agreeing with it.
