In the entire 40 year history of New York hip-hop, is JAY-Z the overall king?

Out of 40 years this guy has been at or near the top for 17. Anyone else even come close?

Nas is the closest.

There's been too many NY GOATs to just pick one though. Can't really be mad at somebody picking God Son or Jigga or LL or Rakim or KRS or Biggie or Kane, etc., etc.

Hilarious Thread, Jay ain't the King, he gets dominated in every category

Influence: Run DMC, Melle Mel, Rakim
Complex Lyrics: Big L, Big Pun, Kool G Rap, Nas
Longevity: Ll Cool J, Nas
Punchlines: Biggie, JadaKiss, Big L
Charisma: Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick
Rocking the crowd: Doug E Fresh, KRS One

The only category he dominates is... umm... fame? :yeshrug:
Call me crazy, but I'm not sure that's an important aspect of being an MC :bryan:

Nas is the King but i'm not mad at anybody that says Jay is, the battle is between those guys and that's for sure.

and no he hasn't been on top 17 years, out of 40 years of hiphop he probably ran atleast 4-5 years.

1998
2000-2001
2003

DMX, Nas, Eminem, Nelly, Ja Rule, Lauryn Hill, Tupac, Biggie, Jeezy, 50 Cent, T.I., Ludacris, Drake, Lil Wayne, Kanye, Kendrick, & Ross fill in those other years from 1994 til now.
