With the economy, the drastic measures from the powers that be, and just every little thing becoming obsolete, the idea of somebody telling you to go with your heart just seems like a frustrating lie where you hope for some form of luck in timing.

When I was younger, I wanted to follow the goals of being in the IT industry, and sadly we're seeing that industry hitting a complete downfall.

Music wise, nobody making money compared to the glory days.

Degrees seem like a luck of the draw, as most have them, but are struggling to find a job.

Its almost as if them words of the past involving teachers, mentors, parents, etc as far as pursuing your dream is just one big cope to have you conditioned into believing that you can achieve without failure.

Sometimes I wonder when it will enough be enough and folks take it to the streets, because there's too much complacency, and folks settling for the little things, but not enough mofos trying to knock the doors down to achieve those dreams. Its almost as if the game is rigged, but now the elites are being arrogant about how much you ain't shyt.

Its like every plan you could possibly have, there's a mechanism to dismantle it.

Am I crazy, the leaves talking to me, Koala Babble, or harsh reality that's a bitter pill to swallow but keep trucking and pushing?

It's a result of wealth inequality and greed. All that dream chasing shyt you mentioned is possible if you come from a trust fund.
Dude I remember being so naive at my younger years believing that the teachers in my college/trade school were just giving nuggets to help you prosper in the field. The grim reality hit when two of those schools ended up being a void of the past as they are no longer there, and most of the teachers were trying to find another hustle.

There was this dude that was my substitute teacher, he asked the class what would you want out of life. I said a house, small car, one or two kids, and a big wife.

Everybody bust out laughing except him. He told the class to chill, while yall laughing...he's content and happy.

It didn't hit me until one day, I was miserable and trying to figure out life and my wife goes, you got everything you wanted.

Sometimes that alone outweighs the desire to follow a rat race :francis:

Yeah but when society constantly tells you to consume more and more and constantly increases the cost of everyday things while extravagantly flaunting wealth in all our media this is the result
You're lucky you have a wife who isn't consumed by late stage capitalism

TBH I was like that at a point of my life. I kept thinking the hustle and getting more and more was like the endgame of living. I swear covid did a psych op on me because it's night and day thought process. Sometimes I gotta remind myself that I have enough and not get attached to outdated dreams that will not change a thing or bring happiness.

Yep

I gave up a few years ago
It sucks because you put all the passion and efforts into something, only to just have the higher ups go "that's not going to work for me". I dread every moment when my son spews the ideas and passions he has for the future. I don't want to be that Joe blow with the trucker hat shutting the dreams down, yet I struggle with being real about life. When he talks about wanting to get into computer science, I can just pray that it's for a cause and provide financial stability. Something like forensics or so forth.

Hell looking back, I should have just focus on being an accountant/businessman, but life goes on, and you just keep on with life :ehh:

Absolutely, though I would add the abandonment of spiritual values(not to be confused with religion) in favor of materialism
Thats another thing that I noticed. Peep the entertainment standards of the past and how it promoted family values, education, and just being your best person.

Nowadays its this ultra consumerism propaganda, along with the visual of individuality that comes with modern society. We are like so far gone from each other, we can't even have a conversation face to face without awkwardness or anger.

One of the things that I practice from my past trauma was Wabi Sabi. Just appreciating what I have and not trying to expand unless needed. Its slowly happening across the country but for the wrong reasons. People started to eat in and etc, because of how expensive everything is.

Its like the evil and malice of those that have it all, is weighing wicked upon the land.

Also no one wants to admit we've been a recession since 2019
Eh..I would say it was a wrap during the pandemic. Maybe pre recession as folks were still buying shyt blindly since it was the last of Obama's economy. That next year the bandaid was ripped off completely
