I always thought about this as a kid cause I haven't been on a plane since like 2001 (10th grade).

Can they create huge parachutes for the whole vehicle, maybe droppable or ejectable seats with parachutes on them. Automatic system that can recognize a fast plunge towards the ground and auto activate?

Man this Kobe shyt got me never wanting to find a plane again.

Should the word start focusing on coming up with ideas for this? They should have been doing this shyt.

Seems like they just started thinking about this type of shyt. Hopefully this makes all flight companies chip in to solve this problem.

Imagine flying in a plane/chopper without having to constantly think about your life. There are millions in this world that reluctantly ride planes often just paranoid as fukk.

I saw a youtube video about this a couple years ago but apparently most crashes occur during take-off/landing when the aircraft is too low for any of the options to realistically work. If I recall correctly Kobe's chopper wasn't all that high off the ground, and it would take a long time for a parachute big enough to land a helicopter to deploy, and the situation's even worse with jumbo jets. All in all, you're more likely to die in your car than in an aircraft, so pick your poison.

Slightly off topic, but I always thought Air Force One must be the safest plane in the world because of its purpose.

In regards to your question, I would ask myself, why don't they just do for all commercial aircraft what they do for Air Force One. Wishful thinking, I know.

I mean, has AF1 ever crashed or had a notable mechanical malfunction...well, known to the public, that is?
