Nah, if my son had an equal chance at the MLB, NFL or NBA I'd steer my him into baseball, the contracts and the lack of wear and tear on the body.

Basketball and football players can barely walk when they're 40.

I'm talking about from the perspective of a youngin.

You have to wait 9 times until you can play offense.

Defense requires you standing around until a ball is hit your way.

if you pitch... you cant play everyday.

For a young guy that's super athletic, I see why there would be no interest in playing baseball.

Most people play a sport at a young age and follow through on it.

The Urban Black Youths will not play baseball because it is a difficult sport to get organize and practice at. You need a glove, a bat and you need other people. Basketball and football, you really just need the ball and some people.

Me personally, I gew up in the inner city, there was never anybody playing baseball except the dominicans and puerto ricans ..... I played with them sometimes, but I found it boring except for the hitting part.... Requires alot of patience which I didnt have.

Also The Black People who play it now professionally, Are from more affluent communities, where they were the only black family on the block, they were the black kids on their little league, traveling and high school team.

What I'm getting at is... Baseball should be a complete bore to super athletic young person

You don't utilize your talents enough

The cats that say baseball is a complete bore were never good at it in the first place.

They should stop fronting. Good baseball players don't "suddenly," after years of being good at it, find it boring and stop. :heh:

Uhhhhhh...the urban poor was NO WHERE nearly as impoverished as the segregation poor who loved baseball. That's a wack excuse.

Simple:

Baseball is more of a global sport than football thus have a wider talent pool. Plus the majority of your competition are american (by american as in from the american continent ie South and Central) so raw talent can be recruited from nearby countries.

:what:

When did I compare the poverty level between today's urban poor and segregation poor. I was explaining why you rarely see any black mlb players who come from a poor background today. I never once said that they can not afford the equipment, I just said that baseball is a difficult sport to organize to play at a whim.

I was also talking about the current black players in MLB, most of them did not come from a low economic class. Most of the black players who play in MLB come from middle class to upper class families. It is a fact look it up.

I was stating that the one who made it to the big leagues were the ones who were the only black family in their neighborhood and therefore the only black kid on their high school teams. This is where they developed their talent.

The difference is that the segregation black youths had a love for the game, they could relate to a Jackie Robinson or a Saitchel Paige. the current urban black youths can relate more to Lebron James or a Michael Vick than they can to say Ryan Howard or Prince Fielder or a CC Sabathia.
