That's not true. The only war India "won" was the Bangladesh independence war. Which actually was a Pakistani Civil War in a country separated by an enemy country in the middle

Yeah, RF, DSP, and coms have always been "an ability to obtain and maintain a DoD or TS/SCI clearance" jobs. I don't know how long you've been in industry, but if you're young enough, apply hard for those positions.

It’s a little tough to explain without going into crazy details about how it works outside of basically saying “using waves and their frequencies through a medium to transfer energy and do stuff”. In this case those are radio waves (RF) and Electromagnetic Waves such as light (Photonics).

For example how your phone first propagates information (let’s say a picture) to a tower, then a satellite then back to another tower and another phone in order for someone to see a picture sent to them. That’s done via sending data as digital signals through a medium (or free space) from one source to a receiver on a resonant frequency.
These waves can also be used to transmit energy (that’s how microwaves work). Photonics are like the light version of that, laser beams and the like than can cut, how people can scan bar codes, how hospitals can check you temperature with a laser, etc.
There are so many applications, but most cutting edge jobs are primarily for defense and many require security clearance (along with an MS). Most civilian jobs have you reusing the same old radio antenna spec and mid technology (or so I heard) so it’s not nearly as interesting.
