Im curious, are there any African countries with nuclear weapons?

None.

China, North Korea, Israel, India and Pakistan are the “non-white” countries with nukes.

China built their’s when nobody wanted another war after World War 2 and they got nuclear capable quicker than anybody thought.

Pakistan and India got their’s during a critical window during some rare deal and North Korea got their’s because Russia was defending them. Israel is backed by the U.S.

Iran is building one because they have Russian/Chinese support and are building underneath a mountain.

Honestly, it’s highly unlikely a sub-Saharan African country gets a nuke because you know who will interrupt. They got to make sure the U.S, Russia, China and India approve them because they’re all in the country.

Latin America honestly got a better chance of getting a nuke at this point.

The nuclear hot race is somewhat over and the best way for non-nuclear countries to get one would be to win the A.I race and make a deal with other countries for nuclear protection if they want the tech.

I'm trying to figure out how a South Africa or an Israel even got Nukes. I guess when the secrets were stolen from USA to give to Russia. Russia gave to China... and I looked into how India and Pakistan got them, but Israel and SA aren't even or weren't even politically aligned to any nuclear countries until well after they were developed and the world realized finally nukes weren't just normal bombs...

Israel is actually pretty easy. Its similar to the brittish where a lot of their scientific people were in an already existing nuclear power. The brits never got direct help from a suspicious America, but plenty of brittish physicists were already at los alamos and in the Manhattan project.

In Israel's case, many of the jewish inteligencia fled east to the ussr after ww2 in addition to the ones like einstein who went west . Its these eastern jewish physicists that brought trade secrets to their promise land from russia. You still see some of these jews with dual alegiances today like the oligarchic Abromavich.


But i agree with you the white south africans. Their case is extremely murky. But i wouldnt be suprised if their twin apartheid state ( israel) helped out with their program. I know israel also reached out to aid Rhodesia with arms and equipment.

This is the trickbag Ukraine and Libya fell into. No such thing as protection when a single election can turn your treaty obligations to UK, America, or france into toiletpaper. its why Iran is so hell bwt on ignoring offers from America after trump shredded the previous agreement with obama and the eu.


From an industrial, economic, and academic standpoint i think both Egypt and Nigeria are capable. They are both at the same development level as pakistan when they got their nukes in the 20th century, but it would take a crazy long time since no nuclear powers have an incentive to share trade secrets. Reinventing the wheel is tedious.

I also doubt either country would be willing to be a pariah like NK , without a sponsor. And of course, Nigeria has no real foes in its region beyond the terrorists.





Also as crazy as it sounds i have hopes for traore. He has wholeheartedly accepted pariah status and has a major backer. And they are in a weird position of have an unusually high supply of radioactive mine deposits.

But Traore's people lack both economic and academic ability to do anything about their radioactive deposits. Nonetheless , i noticed their deal with Russia for nuclear reactor training, which seems like a nice way to at least get domestic physicists and nuclear engineers , which may one day blossom into a military ventures decades in the future.

Not to mention a lot of Jewish people lived in Russia prior to WW2 like the mixed Mongol Russians and Tatars. Operation Barbarossa by Germany targeted and killed a large large amount of these non-pure white-looking populations which was maybe somewhere as large as 30-40+% of the Russian population at the time. A lot of Jews here are legit from Russia pre-WW2 and something like 500,000 Russian Jews live in the U.S right now. Another fact pointing to Russia being a lot more of a mixed country than people think. I almost wanted to include them in the non-white nuclear power category.
