Reminds me of Rocky Mount NC, growing up I had family reunions in that area. It being pitch black at night with no street lights on the roads :wow:

I think if you were a kid in the 90s we are the last gen who saw these towns (they were on the decline but not ghost town yet) and knew black people born before 1930/1935 I'd say. I grew up in the city but even know folks my age who grew up in towns with 1 red light lol

I was interested to watch this, until I saw they started in Arkansas City. Of course.

Reminds me of my mother's hometown in Louisiana. New Iberia. When we were young and go visit my cousins in the summer we use to love it but you saw the city pretty much dying when we became young teens. Town is just about dead now or at least where my grandparents house was located. Gas companies trying to buy the property right now.

I wouldn't wish that place on my worst enemy and I'm from Georgia. So I know what the south is. :picard:

Statistically you actually live a shorter life just by being on the Mississippi Delta. Not just based on being in Arkansas, but that specific part of east Arkansas sucks the life out of people

That's the thing about these little towns as well. So many people end up with cancer its crazy. All kinds of environmental and health issues. Like I said the oil and gas companies in Louisiana are trying to buy up all the property in these small town or offering money to drill on your property. The town I mentioned is known for its sugar crop and they even have a Sugar Fest every year but I don't even think thats really big anymore. Sad to see it. I haven't visited in a few years but last time I went it was depressing. Also feels like time crawls in these small towns. Nothing to do but drink or get high. Its a death trap.
