Instagram almost officially dead of activity

crowd either just tired of using regular IG or so scattered between facebook, snapchat and IG that they arent equally active on 1 platform anymore.

We knew IG waa falling off when they replaced "most recent" picture formula with "most popular today" formula to make it seem IG was still as active by showing popular posts from your followers from that day on your timeline. what I mean is before it would show recent photos, no matter the likes or activity

example:
picture 1 posted picture 30 seconds ago
picture 2 posted picture 2 minutes ago
picture 3 posted 5 minutes ago

etc.

then they changed it to most popular for recent 24 hours last year

example:
picture 1 posted 15 hours ago (high activity of likes and comments)
picture 2 posted 8 minutes ago (high amount of activity in short period of time)
picture 3 posted 4 hours ago (same as above)

they did this so when you logged onto IG it would seem as/more active but really all it did was make the popular more popular and turn away people with only few followerers cause if they posted something rarely anyone would notice cause they picture wouldnt show on peoples time lines.

today they expanded that 24 hour period to 3 days (could be more, thats the highest ive seen)

i follow 3200 people, mostly ages 21-35, active social (club goers/travelers) in populated California.. so if my time line dry as fukk that they gotta go back 3 days to make my timeline seem active , i know others users following less people timeline is worse

my timeline now looks like

lol I feel ya tho. I don't like their decision to get rid of the OG timeline. That was GOAT shyt. Now I open the app and see nothing but IG models with 1000s of likes and none from locals smh. Actually stopped fukkin with it tbh

I don't think IG is dying though. Last I recall, they were getting a lot of traditional Snapchat users who use both SC and IG to post mainly on IG. I need to look at the daily/monthly active users data.
