Instagram is becoming wack as fukk (ever since they got rid of the non-chronological timeline)...I barely use my account as it is, I might just stop using it altogether.

Comments will become the new "likes". There's no way to mask those. Even if they hide the exact quantity of comments, it's still easy to gauge the amount of engagement there is.

Guys, they're not getting rid of likes.
They're just hiding it from people other than yourself.
So people can still LIKE your photos. They just can't see the number of likes you got.

Then again, many of you decry these social media platforms because you don't use them the right way like to promote your art, music, business, etc., so I digress.
Why though? Sounds like Instagram is striking against those trying to make a living
that's exactly the point, the metric doesn't need to be public. It only drives ppl to post content that will get the most likes which is a race to the bottom.

Like those people are literally stalking people on those platforms online and offline and causing harm IRL. That's more of a risk than "likes" and somebody getting bummed out cause they don't have as many likes as someone else.
I disagree, this is more about making the platform less toxic. people literally delete pictures they post if they don't get enough likes, Instagram is not about getting the most likes but that's what it's turned into.
