Intel today announced that it will introduce SSDs based on a new non-volatile memory that is significantly faster than flash in 2016. A prototype was shown operating at around seven times as fast as a high-end SSD available today. Intel's new 3D Xpoint memory technology was developed in collaboration with Micron and is said to be capable of operating as much as 1000 times faster than flash. Scant details have been released, but the technology has similarities with the RRAM and memristor technologies being persued by other companies.

RIP encryption :sadcam:

How?

The buses need to step up though, sata 3.2 is a good start, but sata 3 is getting old very quickly.

I'm trying to see how this will impact the consumer market w/out advancements in bus (like pci express) utilization. Laptops gonna start using sas 4 or some shyt??

Nothing

That's what I figured, I didn't assume it had anything to do with encryption. if anything, if a device is created that could crack encryption then it could very well be used to strengthen encryption as well.
