People are sick and tired of a government promising stuff it cannot deliver.

People don't have jobs, clean water, consistent electricity while there's oil flowing.

Not surprising

Im talking about this specific incident.

The CIA is inciting people
:comeon: Things happen in the world without American invovlement. The CIA is not omnipresent.

Iranian-backed parties dominate Basra's politics. Basra is poor and filled with mafia like violence, despite being at the heart of Iraq's oil production. Locals are fed up with the political status quo that Iran has a deep hand in.

Six protesters killed in Iraq's Basra city as security forces open fire on people protesting economic distress - Firstpost

People in Southern Iraq have been protesting for a long time because they feel ignored and are being abused.

The shia government in Iraq was placed there by the Americans.

The US didn't want a theocracy. The Iraqis were warned they needed to be moderate, that's why ISIL took off. The Shia majority shytted on the Sunnis (I think Sadam was one) and they said :yeshrug: and let ISIL set up shop.

Norfeast groovin…
Kinda funny how Basra and southern Iraq is where you’ll find the most Afro-Iraqis yet it’s so underdeveloped despite being oil country.

This was bound to happen though. As it’s been said you can’t have all of this oil production with nothing to show for it in the community. Then again, it’s not like anyone was accusing Iraq of good governance and proper allocation of resources and profits earned from them.
