Do you nikkas feel irv contributions to hip hop is overlooked??

During Def Jam's heyday with Ja,X,and Hov,he was the glue between all 3 artists...

He was influential with DMX's 1st 3 albums as well as Ja Rule and produced Can I get A by Jay...

Of course we all know about the Murda Inc stuff...

Disregarding the 50 Cent stuff, the man should actually get some props

of course, irv was that nikkka and would still be around if it weren't for fif.

i thought he did wonders for ashati's non singing ass and he should have atleast been considered for that presidency for def jam when it was open.

I don't know why any exec should be getting too much props, it's not like we're in here giving props to Jimmy Iovine for backing Death Row when everyone was trying to ban them and letting them do whatever the wanted.

Or Lyor Cohen or LA Reid, Lighty, Lyles etc.

He's like Dame an attention seeking loud mouth money hungry exec

Despite that, I'd give him props if someone asked me about him but I would never start a discussion about how great he or any exec was/is.

BACK TO THE TOPIC, yeah he was great he was involved in putting on Jay, X and Ja Rule.
Produced countless classic hip-pop singles, but a the real credit is for producing an arguable top 10 hiphop song Can I Live :ahh:

Irv and dame did so much for def jam behind the scenes that the average doesn't know about.

Them giving jay an executive position was super disrespectful.

Jay-z is the perfect puppet. Irv and Dame talk too much. Nobody likes loudmouths especially in the corporate world.

He was a marginal DJ/producer who bought way into his own hype and was part of the lamest "dynasty" of wack sales spike era NYC huff radio bullshyt. There was no low he wouldn't steep to.

If I remember that interview Lyor, Liles and Rush did for XXL correctly, they asked about Irv Gotti and them dudes reacted like Irv was the baddest man alive. Like some legend to them.

Russell was like "thats a baaad motherfukker." Liles called him a shark. So they obviously know something we dont.

But then again this is the same interview where I swear they said something about Redman saving Def Jam at some point, so who knows. I threw all them magazines away.

he made "shyts Real", and "Can I Live".. Irv was that dude..

had that Jay-Z, Ja & DMX group ever took off :whew:

two classics but i already know his flabby mindstate going in to those obvious ass samples. he probably just saw Dead Presidents and caught the issac thought...

the Niecy joint is an all time cookout classic. bozo Irv couldn't miss with that.

this is his best joint IMO:
