Yupp. Movie got me into anime. That opening chase sequence is 
I wanna say "hell no" but it gets by on influence alone, so I guess it is.

They should have shifted the focus to kanedas bike gang that would be the more accessible movieIt’s hard to fit a 2000+ page manga series into a 2 hour movie.

f there's an anime that i want redone properly, its this. the movie is influence puts it in GOAt status, but the story in the movie suffers because of the compression.

It would need to be an OVA series then and I guarantee it wouldn’t look half as good as the OG. Akira was one of the most expensive animated movies made in its time, not only that but it has that classic late 80’s look thats hard to replicate now. Even the remasters have the look.

I’d go with Rahxephon but I ain’t going to argue. Evangelion is one of the deepest, most soul stirring viewing experiences in all of popular storytelling

I've watched it at least 30x, and each time that I do, I get taken quicker and quicker out of the story.
I do recommend that if you ever get the chance to see on the big screen, do so. That was an amazing experience
