Those were just two examples. My point was i like those big franchise IPs better than a star driven action flick.
Moreover i gave those examples specifically of peak movies on both side and how the peaks of ips were higher imo.

More examples beyond comics or starwars. I would rather watch Jurassic park than Rocky. I would rather watch Back to the Future than Top Gun.

To me these IPs are major for a reason, The world building is more interesting than just Seeing Tom Cruise run away from explosions for the 16th time.

I'm not the biggest movie watcher at all, it's not really my cup of tea. If I do watch a movie, it has to have an historical context to it
But from the outside looking in as a casual movie watcher, it seems like they do recycle more actors than they used to

I see it similar to Reality TV shows ruining the Sitcom industry. Hollywood hiring Social media influencers to act in a way ruining the Film industry. Hollywood executives realizing they can get similar returns for less talented/cheaper actors. Rather not put up the money to make a real actor a star when they can just hire someone with an Instagram following

Yep, and you just stan those dudes too much. All them act in these franchises too. Zel trying to get into Black Panther. WIll said he regrets not being in the Matrix. Stallone was terrible in guardians. Arnold owes his career to the Terminator franchise, Tom can't sell a movie without Mission Impossible in the name.

MCU HAS BEEN OFFERING HIM
A SPOT FOR YEARS.

:gucci:ARNOLD MADE THE TERMINATOR FRANCHISE.
PLUS IT WAS A ONE OFF MOVIE
THAT DIDNT BECOME A SEQUEL
UNTIL 7 YEARS LATER.

CRUISE BUILT THE M.I. FRANCHISE
PPL GO SEE THE MISSION IMPOSSIBLE
MOVIES BECAUSE CRUISE IS IN THEM.

TOP GUN 2 DID 1.5 BILLION
WAS THAT THE M.I. NAME?

Honestly i felt like Top Gun 2 was an outlier. i didn't expect it to be as successful as it was. but thats good point.

I still noticed that Tom is playing it safe now, Mostly doing sequels to successful franchises. rather than just selling something new and original off the strength of his name alone.

Terminator is still a massive IP. They make movies in that universe even without Arnold now. whether it made him or he made it is irrelevant to the point.

but regarding Zel, dude is clearly trying to cash in on IPs now. People have been offering roles like that to him for years as you said, but he didn't start accepting them until recently. Cuz he knows thats what more people want to see.

People aren't interested in generic action flicks just because a big name is in the credits anymore. Only thing that would get me back on that wave is if a special talent similar to Jackie Chan or Bruce lee starting making big films again.

CRUISE IS 62 AND DENZEL IS 70.

THEYRE NOT SUPPOSED
TO BE AT THE FOREFRONT
OF ANYTHING ANYMORE
SO THEYRE PLAYING WITH HOUSE MONEY NOW REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY DO.

ONCE AGAIN
ARNOLD MADE THE TERMINATOR FRANCHISE...

THEY ONLY MADE ONE MOVIE
THAT DIDNT STAR ARNOLD WHICH WAS
IN 2009 AND ARNOLDS TERMINATOR
STILL APPEARED IN THAT MOVIE.

Traditional stars were borne of traditional mediums of media..those no longer exist as everything went online and families no longer watched tv together unless sports.

You simply can't create a Star for all when everyone isn't tuned into the same thing anymore. :manny:

The fact is that streaming has been a disrupter and has democratized filmmaking to an extent.

Why would I need to pay 12 bucks for a movie ticket, when I can pay the same amount via any streaming platform and watch as much movies as I want for the same amount?

More movies and TV series being put out on non-traditional platforms means the talent pool is also being diluted. More roles to go around means you can subsidize pay for the talent.

It's also interesting that while pay for tv and film is going down, pay for athletes seems to be going up. You can't replicate the feeling of watching entertainment in real time.
