We as black people really need to stop perpetuating this idea that you can only look professional with short hair. I‘ve worked in corporate banking nearly my whole career and I grew my hair for 3 years (and got braids) and other than general intrigue from white people, “How does your hair grow like that?”, I never had any issues.

My managing director was an old cockney white guy from East London and he even encouraged me to grow my hair out. He showed me pictures of him working for Barclays Bank in the 80’s with a long mullet and said I should be myself
