Ideally, yes. But no one is absolutely selfless. We might not care whether people will appreciate some of the things we do for them but others we will want recognition for, at least on some level.

Selflessness, like everything, has a limit. We're still human beings, no matter how well intentioned, and still have to think of ourselves. And it's true some people abuse others' kindness or betray the ones who helped them.

i guess if you find yourself in a position were you are being taken advantage of then it's fukked up.
but if you are doing a good deed just because you want to help then you should not want praise....although it is nice.
