Is anyone here a payroll accountant or works in payroll?

I currently work in payables and am being considered for a payroll accountant position at a great company in my city. I know the basics and the job duties/description, but I was wondering if anyone could fill me on what the average day is like, is the work difficult, how much communication do you do to external companies, how much pressure is there to meet deadlines, etc?

Did it in the Marine Corps. Job was the LEAST stressful MOS I could imagine.

Only times things got a bit 'hectic' were when someone changed their tax status, right before the 1st/15th of each month, or when someone had a judgement against them that I had to take out.
