Been having some MVP discussions with some friends and they always say "Harden averaging 11 assists:ohlawd:" or "Russ averaging 10 assists:ooh:". Im always like "Thats cool and all but look at the turnovers:skip:"

Everyone just looks at me like:martin:"hater".

But lets be real, why is it impressive to average 11 assists if you turn the ball over damn near 6 times a game :scust:. I dont find it impressive at all tbh. To me that says you dont actually have the passing gift. You just have a coach that lets you do what you want :yeshrug:. Give any half way decent nba wing 5 to 6 turnovers a night and they'll get you 10 assists :ld:. Thoughts?

Box score assists are misleading :yeshrug:
harden fans: "he averages 25 AND 11 assists, best offensive player in the league :myman: "

then why don't they do it? this goes back to that argument that people made that iverson scoring 30 ppg while shooting 42% isn't impressive because if you give any guard that amount of shot attempts they could score 30 ppg.

you know how many teams in the nba suck at moving the ball around? if you had a guy who could not only set up others at that volume but also give you hockey assist from his assist that's valuable.

harden's turnovers are a problem but then again the rockets are 3rd in assist per game and harden is the engine that makes it move.

I can live with that AST/TO ratio....

Also given how turnovers are assessed in the nba I wouldnt harp on it either. You can throw a perfectly fine pass but if you have a center say like Roy Hibbert who has butterfingers that dropped pass is still assessed to you through no fault of yours really.

I see both sides of the argument tho

:skip:Probably not the best way to win. Harden and Russ are both amazing players so you want the ball in there hands, I just don't think their assists numbers are impressive
the rockets have the 3rd best record in the league and are 3rd in team assist tho :skip:

yet another thread throwing shots at westbrook, nikka just had a triple double season fukk the turnovers and fukk the westbrook teammates. When someone like Bron has extremely efficient season then some of you muthafukkas start bringing shyt like oh he passes the ball instead of taking contested shot this and that. Like muthafukkas never happy.
