So yesterday Black Lives Matters Protesters crashed a speaking event at the Netroots Nation featuring Bernie Sanders:
Now if you don't know, Bernie is against the death penalty, thinks the economy/jobs are the biggest issue for the Black community, is against stiff sentences for non violent offenses and wants tougher bank regulations. He has voted like this for 5o years.
Meanwhile, Hilary Clinton was for the death penalty, helped destroy Africa re: Libya, is instrumental in keeping Haiti under occupation, her husband passed bills that allowed Blacks to serve stiffer sentences for selling drugs, her husband passed a bill allowing banks to give Blacks predatory loans and she waited well after Bernie Sanders to speak about the Charleston Shooting.
So why did the Black Live Matter movement choose to put pressure on Bernie and not Hilary. Well, here is the logic from Dream Hampton:
I get it....police brutality, but only 1000 people die every year due to police brutality. How many Black people are dying simply from poverty? When these online feminist think transphobia and police brutality are the main issues plaguing the Black community, are they really doing us justice? If Black people were being employed at a higher rate, if less of us were being imprisoned and thus could be productive citizens, if the government did indeed give us some kind of stimulus then could we not fund our own communities and protect ourselves from the very violence that they are complaining about? It seems myopic.
