With the first round of network subscriptions coming due on 9/2, the WWE is looking to load up the 9/21 Night of Champions show in Nashville. Lesnar is to return for a two-show program, starting at SummerSlam and continuing at NOC.

In order to be a megastar in wrestling, you have to be BIGGER than wrestling itself. That's what sets apart Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Macho Man Randy Savage, and the likes of them from the rest of the wrestlers. You ask a random person on the street if they know any of the guys I've listed and they'll say, "Hell yeah!" They transcended outside of wrestling into mainstream culture where everybody will know who they are.

John Cena, I admit, he's a star in the WWE, yes, but mainstream? Naw. He was even begging Lebron James for attention (there's a thread on that as well) because he isn't on that mainstream megastar level yet. I'm not aking anything away from him, but he's not on that level and probably never will be.
whoa whoa whoa, Cena isnt on the mount rushmore but Cena is a household name for sure when you bring up the word "pro wrestling"

Daniel Bryan and CM Punk arent though

Cena been face of WWE for nearly a decade, its just our generatiion compares him to the Rock's, Macho's, Austin's, etc

all kids know who Cena is

His pops in general are underwhelming. His theme gets a lot of CDQ action, if we're just being honest.

YES, YES, YES. That Cena feud was so big BECAUSE IT WAS CENA and Cena sold everything from Brock like he was fukking death itself. Everything else has been underwhelming.

If Lesnar beat Cena when he came back and held the belt. It'd be worth it. WWE dropped the ball by having him lose to Cena that first match back.

His agent though should be the one commended for getting Lesnar this deal. Has arguably the best deal in the entire wrestling business.

Most of the older people who are out of touch with the wrestling world wouldn't know who John Cena is.

We're not just talking about kids, I'm talking EVERYBODY.

All the more reason he shouldn't be given so many privileges, much less the championships.

The types of bumps hes willing to takes tells me otherwise, personally. With the amount of money he makes, he doesn't have to throw himself around the ring and sell the way he does...But he does it. His all out nature is worth the price of admission, so yea, I think he is deserving of those privileges.

That's the messed up part about being a pro-wrestler, you already don't get paid much compared to a lot of sports stars and entertainers and then on top of that you have to cover a lot of your own expenses. smdh

Wrestlers really get fukked over....at least more so in the past. I have all the Torch newsletters from 1999, and Keller constantly hammered the fact that wrestlers received roughly 15% of the net revenues. Im sure that percentage has increased over the years since WWE went public, and had to become transparent with their financials, but as a comparison labor from the NBA and MLB receive over 50% of revenues. On top of this all travel and accommodations are covered by professional organizations for their athletes, while wrestlers have to come out of pocket for practically ALL their arraignments because of the "independent contractor" hustle Vince got going on. We wont even get into health insurance and coverage.

He's a part-timer with no passion or love for the business and there's a lot of full-timer youngin's that need that push over Brock. He also oversells at times. :yeshrug:

I don't even think they get health insurance and they have a high risk job. I think one wrestler had to get Vince or another wrestler to take care of his health expenses.

The life of a wrestler is sad and depressing at times if you aren't one of the top guys.
