Perhaps the bar has been set unrealistically high for the HOF after having seen the likes of Maddux, Bonds, Clemens and Pedro.
But as Sabathia nears 37 years of age in 6 weeks, it begs the question: Is he a future Hall of Famer?
To consider:
2001 Rookie of the Year runner up after going 17-5.
6 time All Star
World Series Champion (2009)
ALCS MVP (2009)
Cy Young Award winner (2007) ...and finished in the Top 5 four other times.
229 - 143 W/L (as of this posting)
2,779 strikeouts (as of this posting -- good for 21st all-time)
MLB Wins leader (2009, 2010)
To some it may seem obvious that he belongs in the Hall.
For the record, I think he belongs on the 1st ballot.
But for many baseball fans, he never really got the type of fanfare and hype that other pitchers received during his career (Johan, Lincecum, Verlander, Felix), so I can see how CC may have flown under the radar a bit.
