Not all people who are depressed slice their wrists or OD on medication. Depression is a state of mental health, not necessarily the want to end your life or self harm.

mental health period is a problem in our community. A lot of ppl in jail are depressed or suffering from something else n don't get treatment until they go in there. we also get being "real" mixed up with some form of illness.

What I meant by that is a a lot of dudes are out here doing dumbs shyt and in the "hood" it's just being real, a lot of these dudes could be suffering from some form of mental illness.When I was locked up, I was surprised at how many ppl in there were on some form of medication and they didn't take it when they were on the outside.

My little cousin about to do sometime and he suffered from lead poisoning( another problem in poor areas) as a kid.

I think Depression exist amongst everyone and it's not only a "white" problem. White people just have a label for things and sometimes black people immediately associate it with something negative. We all experience depression to an extent but most blacks associate it with self-pity, taking anti-depressants, cutting yourself etc. I also think we as black people don't take mental health as serious as we should.

this is one of the dumbest shyt i ever heard on here. a lot of the the shyt that goes down in our communities are a result of depression and other mental issues that go untreated cause most of us can't afford it and there is a general stigma against seeking mental health.

I was diagnosed with PTSD. I just recently got to the point where I can go to public places without getting nervous.
