Saw this gif in another thread and it got me thinking

IDVccgWUHl0sRGzM2tNoiU6xW-OGbnRUACLcB

Oh the irony:mjgrin:

Im trying to class him with other players to better figure out if he's a legit LEGEND or not. We all know basketball HOF is easier to get into than Canton, so Im trying to determine if "legend" is the appropriate word. There's a bunch of white boys in the HOF that aint no gatdamn legends :martin:

I know Mutombo was:birdman: with the Defense, but I certainly wouldn't put him over Dwight Howard in terms of overall talent/skill. Alonzo Mourning is another name I think of and while was a beast not sure I could consider him LEGENDARY.

Patrick Ewing I feel is a good baseline for "legendary" status nikka basically averaged a double double with 20+ ppg

We can't devalue the word "LEGEND" by letting people slip through the cracks. I know he makes great gifs and the finger wag after beating somebody shyt out the arena is :banderas: but judging purely off basketball skill/talent, what do you brehs think?

Mutumbo is prob a 3rd tier legend. Remember he was a shot blocking monster. There is a stretch where he was at 3bpg. And I think he was 4.5 for a couple years. It was a challenge and accolade to "climb Mt. Mutombo".

Don't compare him to Dwight. He at least had a couple of go-to moves for a basket - running hook, jump hook, funny looking 10' J

I have him 3rd Tier.

First: Shaq, Olajuwon, Kareem, David Robinson. Those are MVPs who turned franchises around.
Second: Ewing, Mourning. Hall of Famers who are great and got MVP consideration, but just fell short in accomplishments compared to the first tier guys. Also carried their franchise on their backs to consistent success.
Third: Mutombo. Multiple time All Stars. Great players, but not exactly franchise game changers.

I think this 3rd tier shyt is just a way to sneak mutombo's ass in there c'mon man GREAT PLAYER absolutely but LEGEND c'mon ya'll just as bad as the basketball hall of fame lol.

Why is there three tiers of LEGENDARY status? We got Mike in the same category (legend) as mutombo foh

Dikembe is in the same vein as Rodman where he will be legendary for his defensive presence and a template any player over 6'8 should look to for how to improve their D in the paint and rebounding if they are athletic enough.

top 10 DEFENSIVE center easily
