So Far Gone was great, but that was a mixtape, and all of the work wasn't original. I think the closest he's come is Take Care and that is more than a few steps below My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Good Kid Madd City.

Drake is the hottest in the game easily. No debate about that. But The amount of people who attend your shows has nothing to do with the quality of your music. Bieber averages 25k people a show, does that mean he's a better artist that The Weeknd?

Kanye was selling out Arenas like crazy in 07 with Graduation. shyt had hits. And is an amazing album. But not as good as TCD/LR/MBDTF.

Drizzy has a very good fanbase. Drake is doing what Kanye did in 07, but for his whole career. A lot of hits, but the quality has taken a bit of a slump. I fukk with Graduation still, and even though the production was amazing, its still not as good of a pure rap album as his other classics.

Drake will never have a classic until he bites down, and stops trying to make radio songs. When every song on your album sounds like it belongs on the radio, you'll never have a classic. Most of the time, the best songs on an album aren't the singles. There is no room for songs like "Started From The Bottom" or "Worst Behavior" on a classic Hip Hop album. Too low quality to be on a classic Hip Hop album.

He makes trendy rap music. That lasts a couple of months but then gets stale. NWTS doesn't have the same feeling of freshness that MBDTF or GKMC has.

I think he has it in him, but I also think that his legion of stans will support anything he does and call it hot. And they'll be satisfied with subpar music. I had people really try to argue to me that NWTS was better (or as good) than GKMC/MBDTF.

Yall think Drake has a classic in him? This is about to be his 4th album. No classics yet. Jay, Em, Nas, Kendrick, Jeezy, T.I, all had classics by then. Can Drake do it?

Those 2 are close. Maybe a slight edge to Cole because he did it without Superstar features.

Drake had Bun, Wayne, Trey Songz, and Omarion on a mixtape breh. Thats amazing.

Very good. But not a classic
How is it not classic, it still gets burn to this day more than other supposed classics from this era. Lyrically, Drake was on point on songs like Headlines, HYFR, Under Ground King, Lord Knows the R&B stuff was good Crew Love, Marvin's Room, The Real Her, Take Care. All the features came correct from Rihanna to Andre 3000 to Rick Ross. Great production from 40 really uniquely produced in terms of that ambient sound and the little chopped and screwed samples. Introduced Kendrick and The Weeknd to the mainstream, really defined it's era.

he will never drop a classic hip hop album

He sings better than he raps but it's not saying anything because his studio vocals aren't great either, he literally hits 3 notes with the help of melodyne and autotune, and I'm not hating. He writes half decent rnb songs, but they'd be better if someone else sang them.

because you still listen to it doesn't mean we all do it :dead:

the album isn't critically acclaimed, it's never mentioned as a classic or a landmark cd for this generation & it isn't influential either (drake is just doing what andre 3000 & kanye been doing for years)

I'm not talking about myself I'm talking about people, I go to parties and they still playing tracks off the album, I hear whips pull up playing songs from the album.

It got a 78 MetaCritic score which is pretty close to critically acclaimed, and it got plenty of good reviews an 8.6 from Pitchfork, a 4 out of 5 from AllMusic, a 4 out of 5 from Rolling Stone, a 4.5 out of 5 from Slant Magazine.

shyt is different from Kanye and Andre 3000 c'mon. Let's give it some years before we talk about influence, don't see how it's not time defining shyt has like 6 popping singles these are classic songs breh for this generation and started one of the biggest pop culture movements (YOLO).

my favorite Drook's project is Take Care. Good album, doesn't fit my criteria of a classic though. To me, classic has to be either extremely influential, extremely different/innovative, extremely well put together/Good, or the perfect combo of the three. I think the album was semi-influential, not very innovative, and very good spitting at parts, but I wouldn't call it a classic.
