Brehs with locks I need some advice. I plan to lock my shyt up but I have soft and curly hair. So what are some methods to get my hair twisted. what length should I allow my hair to grow to before getting twisted? How do I survive the "ugly" phase of dreads? Also tell me anything else I need to know.

Also should I go to a professional to get my hair twisted? Or I let some hood chick do it?

You got the same hair type as me. Get a nice mini fro going 4 to 5 inches. Most likely chick doing your hair is gonna use the comb coil method. As far as the ugly phase idk either cover it up with a beanie, hat or just embrace it. You gonna be ugly as hell for a good 5 months, even have the urge to cut it, just know the end results is :blessed:

Get it done by a professional. I've had two different hood chicks take out and reinstall my twists so far and I'm still gonna end up going to the salon cuz it doesn't lay right. Might be because my hairs too short but whatever at the salon they make that shyt look right.

Kast answered the question for you Breh

Is every nikka with Golds for the Fall:ohhh: -meaning you don't necessarily have to go to a "professional" to get hooked up with your twists. Every brotha with gold teeth isn't on some ignorant shyt and every hood girl who does hair on the stoop isn't going to fukk your head up. You gotta find the RIGHT one and it'll all fall in place)

Nah So don't get caught up in appearance:myman: -With twists you've got to take the good with the bad, you ain't gonna have luxurious looking Damien Marley locks WITHOUT putting in the work. You're doing this for YOU and it's as much a journey of spiritual, emotional, and determined growth as it hair growth)

It's Outkast Aquemini Another Black Experience :wow: - This experience will be as much about reconnecting with a legacy of pride, in culture, heritage, and history of Western African and Rastafarian roots. Warriors of the Fulani tribe in Mali wore locks once they reached manhood. To wear locks is to, whether it is conscious or unconsciously, to be a living representation of black excellence.
