We all know its happening in Atlanta and New York. Is it happening to another "chocolate city" in America?

I never see anyone talk about it..just curious. I know they transformed most of the projects after the storm into apartments, but are the original residents available to afford to stay there? They tore down the projects in Atlanta and turned them into expensive ass apartments...only a few residents were grandfathered in and were able to keep low rent.

Did cacs come down there and buy up the land after Katrina and drive up the prices on everything?

Gentrification is happening everywhere. It's public policy. Look up "Hope VI".

Thats not my hood

I'm New Orleans East, Lower Ninth Ward, Pines Village

My fam not in those parts (that's out West)

I grew up Northeast of Hollygrove and all lat

But, these projects are between my house and my grandparents (R.I.P.) cribs across the pond from me will be white suburbs in ten years.

I'm scared for black people in New Orleans over the next 50 years

They will be gone

NO is done because there is no real economy there. Sure there are a few regional offices of big companies but NO is a city built on hospitality services, and for the avg person that means there isn't much to really earn a high income. I dont know how active NO is as a Port city though compared to places like Savannah and Charleston or Coastal cities in Cali. I'd think Houston would be more active.

No.
You can still live almost anywhere in New Orleans for fairly cheap.
Even the Lower Gardens District has rent below $2k.

New Orleans been done since the Hurricane Katrina...

Disaster Capitalism is the best form of capitalism...

Kills and remove all the undesirables...

Young yuppie cacs and businesses move in, talking about "revitalizing" the city...

Same shyt gonna happen to Houston...

If you don't go no money...it's a hard life outchea...

Funny shyt is...the Black people make those cities cool...

Soon as all the cacs move in...it's just another fukking city...and the cacs will move...and the poor Blacks will move in...creating another hood...
