all 23 million miles of useful land
this is the gist of it.

Also American sports fans suck now, and have been trending downward for 20 years. Especially on the east coast. Cost of games, and cost of attendance around the area is a big a reason why. Also American culture is losing that dirt under its nail edge we used to have. We also are not that creative of a sports fan culture.

why spend all that loot on a ticket, then pay stupid prices for parking, and $5 water and $8 hotdogs, and have to sit in traffic, leaving games, when you can just chill at home on you HDTV and save loot.

This has nothing to do with BK...

When a team is bad in NY attendance is bad...The Nets are the "B" basketball team in NY and they're terrible with no future thanks to awful trades...They never established a fanbase in NY, the only crowds they ever draw was fakkits when Collins played for them but that publicity stunt also cost them...Ain't no real BK nikkas tryna associate themselves with that bullshyt...
I think that's part of it but I think @NYC Rebel pretty much nailed it. Regardless of how good the team is, something has changed culturally with these crowds. Look closely at the Mattingly video, I see natives, I see Italians, Irish, PRs, DRs, Blacks...I see people born and bred in the city. Now the crowds seem much more WASP, much more transplants from the Midwest and California. These people have also brought their "suburban" traits with them. They are much more reserved and polite and they bring women and children to the games. That's what they do in St. Louis, Texas, Seattle, etc...people take their families and barely raise a voice at the game unless they are scolding their children. That is the culture that comes with all these transplants invading your city. Look at the Mattingly video, can you point out a single female or child in the stands? shyt is 99% men with the their boys, wife and kids stay home. We're going to the stadium to act a fool. This is a big difference btw the East Coast and middle America.

Barclay is a couple block from where I grew up, and yeah gentrification plays a tremendous part in its

lack of flavor. I could understand if it was the Dodgers that came back, even tho Ebbets Field was

turned into the PJs. But, despite our curse franchise historical L, this city will always be for the

Knickerbockers. Once a Knicka always Knicka; just like Spike:flabbynsick::mjcry:
