First of all i'm a nikka that grew up in Jersey and PA.

But my boy was playing the Slaughterhouse shyt (i fukk with Joey) but Joel Ortiz was spittin and i'm like :scusthov:

He bumpin Styles new album but i'm like yo that shyt has no replay value
That Jadakiss Consignment was hard but only with the features and thats because it didn't sound like typical NY shyt.

I mean i'm eating regardless since dope music is coming from all regions, but that "old skool" NY rap needs to be retired :flabbynsick:

Lloyd banks got bars but has sounds like he records it in his closet, plus has no replay value

French/ASAP - they good but they sound isn't the typical NY sound.

Not from NYC, but I think you picked bad examples...slaughterhouse is just ass and corny off tops...haven't even heard styles new stuff and jada is just basically busta rhyming it up for relevance at this point....Action Bronson, Roc Marciano, Joey Badass all did more than decent enough jobs of giving me a new york fix last year

Wow, you named 3 punchline rappers and you actually grouped ASAP with French Montana. This would NY circa 2003, this would reflect the trend when the grittiness was disapearing. I guess when you go from 2,500 murders a year to 400, your not gonna have rappers who spit rhymes that are tough as nails anymore.

Why didn't you just make a thread about Joel Ortiz being wack?

I guess it's so Bad now that you literally have to be from that Era of The Rap Game. Everybody used to have Love for DMX, Wu-Tang, L.O.X., Jay-Z, Cam'ron, Nas' Sounds but now it's like :manny: because so many Dude from Westcoast & The South have emerged. The Style of Rap has been Expanded far too apart from that New York Sound.

That's the problem there is no such thing as genuine New York hiphop.
Or there is, but it's not what people think it is. It's a lot broader, I mean genuine Southern hiphop is dead and genuine Cali hiphop is dead too. I don't think one peak era should define what's genuine.

As far as East Coast influenced rap is still being delivered by cats like J. Cole (from the south and many other southern and West Coast rappers) then East Coast rappers like Wale, Meek, Asap, Mac Miller, Fab, Pusha, Jay & Nas and newer rappers like Joey Badass & Action Bronson.

Generally I think 2012 had no concentration on any region, it was totally spread out across all regions even Seattle fukked around and had one of the most successful projects. The south might've had a small lead, cali second, EC third and the rest but it was all marginal.

NY cats are still hard though, just not stupid.
Stacking cash instead of bodies is how you operate when the police is strong and wise. Avg NYPD is probably like the Feds in the south :youngsabo: and CIA compared to the cops in the midwest .

Generally nikkas are just smarter on the East Coast excluding Jersey
