Time for another coli DBZ thread. :lolbron:

But seriously, back in the day when he was a kid he used to be a beast, the fan-favorite character. Everybody used to wait for him to snap and reveal his hidden potential and wonder how strong he'd be as an adult.

Unfortunately he peaked at like 11 and was mostly :trash: after that.

-That lame "Great Saiyaman" shyt (though I admit the Saiyaman episode in Super was funny)
-His poor performance against Dabura
-Waiting all those episodes for Old Kai to unlock his potential, and then losing to Buu anyway :martin:
-Barely even being present in GT aside from a few cameos
-Fodderized by Beerus and Frieza in Super
-Future Trunks not even bothering to tell him about Goku Black when he sees what Gohan is like now
-Even now in the current arc, his performance has been aight at best. Nobody listened to his strategies at all though. :pachaha:

So i ask the Coli, is Gohan the most disappointing character in Dragonball? Or even in anime in general?

I believe I read somewhere that DBZ was suppose to end with The Cell saga aka GOATHANS crowning moment. Execs werent ready to end the series because even though fans loved GOATHAN he wasn't GOATKU. People didn't want to accept that the hero of DBZ was dead and never coming back. So the Buu saga was added on.

This goes around a lot but it's not actually true. Toriyama didn't intend to end at the Cell Saga, but he did intend for Gohan to be the main character after that.

But at some point during the Buu Saga he changed his mind because he felt Gohan wasn't suited for the role (since he didn't like fighting) and switched it back to Goku.

Oh ok but by the end of the Namekian saga Gohan had no qualms about fighting down to the dirt. Him and his dad actually were embracing their Saiyan lust for combat. One of my gripes with DBZ and the DB universe as a whole is inconsistencies with character development. Thanks for the correction

Gohan has never liked fighting. That's one of the few conisitencies in the series.

He might not have liked fighting but by the time of the Cell games he had realized that sometimes fighting is necessary and unavoidable. He also realized it was apart of his nature, hence his speech to Cell about his hidden power.
