This is my first thread on the Coli and really I have a simple question. Is group economics the answer to the African American plight and struggle. In my personal opinion I think group economics and reinventing ourselves as a financial power/collective is enough to improve our conditions and solve our problems...do you think its enough or does more/something else need to be done.? Dr Claude Anderson gives (IMO) the simplest and best explanation of group economics and its potential to help black people. (video below)

Silly tread. What do you mean by group economics? When I think of economics, I think of macro and micro economics. What are you trying to say?

no, it wont solve all our problems. infact, an economically prosperous black community will threaten cacs and start an entirely different battle.
:ohhh: I never even thought about it like that.

Well what I mean and what was spoken about in the video is basically black people supporting each others business, not allowing our money to leave our communities so easily, providing each other with interest free loans and things of that nature. Much like what the Jewish have done in this country, in order to have enough spending power to influence politics behind the scenes and just make ourselves a more powerful people.

At this point, group macroeconomics would be the best route for blacks in America. Certainly better than where we're at currently. But group economics alone wouldn't be enough to combat systematic racism.

Knowledge of our history+racial solidarity+elevated standards of behavior (collective or individual)+group economics=the biggest threat to systematic racism.

Interest free loans? Have you paid attention to the interest rate over the last 6 years?

We not only need black business. We need black suppliers and products for the businesses. We have a long way to go and no unity as of now. We need to worry about family structure and a stable community before we even think about group economics at this point. The last 30-40 years (feminist/crack eras) have brought us back 100 years. It is gonna take selflessness from our community that we simple do not have at this point

Powerful post man, and yeah I think people underestimate how much of an effect the crack era had on black families around the world, that shyt really shook up our communities.

Its a start. We need our own schools just as bad.
I thought about that, I think the only reason some people might oppose it, is they think of "segregation" when thinking of schools for blacks. But I think maybe seperate schooling might be great to instill values and knowledge in our youth that they arent receiving in regular schools.
