With the recent success of Travis Scott & the general public not caring Aubrey buying swag from quentin:dame:

Is it safe to say the rap game is starting to accept biters :jbhmm:

This nikka is a straight clone of Future but no one seems to be making a fuss about it :yeshrug:

Hip Hop been irrelevant since the early 90s...

Other genres of Rap Music have different rules...Until Black People learn how define and categorize things, there will always be CONFUSION...

When I listen to Chief Keef and I listen to Run DMC's "Sucka Mc" I can CLEARLY tell that I am NOT listening to the same genre of music...

Because it's harder and harder to be a true original, it seems the average rapper would rather just copy the elements he/she feels work for him/her the best and try to build something from there.

In my opinion,

The "Hip Hop" sound is songs like NWA "Dopeman" Run DMC "sucka mc" Ice T "6 In the morning" Heavy D "Mr Big Stuff"...To me, this is Classic Hip Hop...Dudes in sweat suits, rope chains, and that DISTINCT 80's "Hippity Hop" flow graffiti, turntables and B Boys...

When people say "Hip Hop" this is what I think of in my head...When the 90s came, that shat started becoming irrelevant...I don't think of 2Pac, Nas, Biggie, Jay Z, Mobb Deep and the many others who ruled the mid 90s as "hiphop"...I consider the New York sounds as Classic Rap Music, and the California sound as G Funk and its variations..

There are MANY subdivisions of Rap Music...Hip Hop is only 1 of it...By not making these definitions and categories, we make it hard for the legends to eat, and for the up and coming to respect the legends...

Why is it that Metallica and Rolling Stones can share a stage and go on 100 Million tours around the world? Because a Metallica fan can go to a Rolling Stones concert and Metallica concert and not be on some "this is fake and this is real" bullshat...

You can't listen to these 3 songs and tell me that you are listening to the same genre of music...

yeah...I posted about this some time ago

Brehs, as far as I can tell, the taboo about "biting" is officially over.

The 80s

In the 80s, you could hear artists all the time being mad about people "biting". Not whole lines, even--just slang. Weird style inflections. Just trying to copy any aspects of something they didn't come up with themselves.

The 90s

While "don't bite my style" declined as a topic in song lines, the idea remained clear. Wu Tang famously called out Biggie's Illmatic-style cover, Mobb Deep had some problems with Biggie's lines as well.

The late 90s got strange with Tupac clones, so that veered off into a different space..

2000s

Thanks to Jay-Z, by the late 2000s, lifting whole lines from other rappers just became something people "do". Bigging up my brother :troll:

Today: Droog

And finally, today, we see in Your Old Droog, a literal clone of a famous rapper (if he is not said rapper himself), getting a pass mostly. The taboo against Biting is dead.

maybe you are the one who is confused...

Rap Music is BIGGER than Hip Hop...Meaning, just because somebody is rapping, it doesn't mean that it is "hip hop" music...And Hip Hop doesn't necessarily need a rapper...

Hip Hop music started out without rappers...Ask :krs:

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
All these nikkas run around biting eachother. All day. U got cats like Drake biting nikkas before they release they own album. Big Sean being one of em. Then the whole game bit him. Young Thug bit Wayne. Rich Homie bit Thug. Fetty Wap bit both. And noone has a prob with any of this shyt. Lil Reese come out. The whole game bites that nikka flow before he drops an album. Noone says shyt. And the list goes on and on. An NY nikka comes out biting the fukk out of Future. Now nikkas wanna talk about integrity in the game? fukk outta here. Lol I knew who this thread was gonna be about before I even clicked into it.
