Is It a Hot Take to Think Carlito's Way was Better than Scarface?

I watched both recently and while Scarface is an enjoyable over the top movie, the idea of Carlito not being able to escape the streets no matter how hard he tried made for a better story in my opinion.

What y'all think?

Depends on your scope.

Scarface's appeal has always been the bigger issues at play and the complexities involved. The "american Dream" and what that entails, Cuba/Fidel/Mariel boatlift, Miami, Colombians, international supplier deals, crooked cops, the surge in violence and fallout. Carlito's Way is a simpler trying-to-go-legit-and-betrayal story.
