Small scope of reference

That implies that they only way to celebrate is with lights

It was actually way more than just lights, I just didn’t feel like typing all the nuances. But commercials, new christmas songs from the hottest current artists, dedicated Christmas movies, just a lot of different things that seem different from a decade ago

But that’s more or less the commercialization. It doesn’t speak to if people are celebrating. Different doesn’t mean it’s less important.

Probably just doesn’t hit the same because we’re not kids anymore. Being a kid I could barely wait until the 25th and couldn’t sleep the night before. Got so excited the night of Halloween to go get candy. Being an adult you got bills, sick of the cold and grey skies this time of year, got relationship problems…etc

That reality hits too hard smh

But A decade ago I was grown with young kids lol, even my youngest embraced it differently than my youngest back then. Sure he liked the gifts, but the buildup was different, Idk I think they’re just over exposed to too much shyt now.

I know this is anecdotal but even my peers and coworkers are having the same experiences with their kids and the aura of Christmas,

It was just a stressful year. And it seems like something was just off this year. We didn't do anything for anyone outside of our family this year, gift wise.

But we asked a handful of people, that we know need help, what their light bills were and paid them.

That did ease the stress of buying all these gifts for people that don't need them, just because it's Christmas.

Most of the holidays in the past were anchored by investment from big box retailers... macys, sears, Walmart, toys r us etc.. half of them are out of business and the ones remaining have cut back and focus heavily on online shopping.

Malls are not popping like they used to and that's were in many cities you used to find the biggest Christmas tree displays. I think it's all tied to the death of retail and the change in our shopping habits.
