Is it blasphemous to say Wiz Khalifa is a TERRIBLE rapper?

Well, here we go...

Like I said...not a great lyricist, but kid has better breath control, verse structure, and flow than a lot of people. Consider how many people there are that just CAN'T rap or piece together a verse without getting stuck in the same pocket, feel me? I get what you're saying and you're right to some extent but you can't be so quick to lump him in with a Chief Keef like that. That's discrediting Wiz a bit too much.

I'm not saying dude's ELITE :whoa:, but he's proven to be above average throughout his career (if you've taken time to listen). I don't want to get TOO lengthy with it but maybe we can meet halfway here.

I say he can out-RAP a lot of people because a lot of artists tend to get stuck in a pocket. Some people say that A$AP Rocky verses tends to sound the same and blend in with one another, which limits the kind of production he chooses to be on...whereas an artist like Drake (for example) can diversify his flow enough to go from a harder "trap" banger-type of track to a more hip-hop based track to a something even mellower than that. Some people are just able to adapt better than others, you know? (Another quick example is how Jay-Z emulates that "turn-up" flow element in "Clique": "Turn that 62 to 125, 125 to a 250", etc. Not every rapper can adapt as they go, so they play it safe when they write.)

Say You Will (Freestyle) is actually a VERY good example, in my opinion...

Wiz Khalifa-Great 2 Be Here - YouTube

"New money, new car, new crib, and you gon' need luggage cause nikka's a trip...meet the buyer, frequent flyer, loose change w/ it, need some pliers. Get a grip" and so on...

"Great 2 Be Here"

"Lay 'Em Down"

"The Statement" (2nd Verse) and actually few instances on "Kush & OJ", he seemed to adapt a Currensy-influence into his flow, while making it sound a bit less rugged & more up-beat.

Wiz Khalifa - So High - YouTube

...and here, he's just having fun w/ the sample. :smoker:

...but if you don't get what I mean... :manny: I tried. LOL.
Finally..another fan who doesnt see rap as just "lyricism" :obama:

These kats just dnt get it:scusthov:

Entirely blasphemous.

When I think of terrible, I think of Fabolous and Papoose.

He's not terrible, he's just like most rappers out now.....he knows his lane and stays in it.

He raps pretty terribly now, but pre Kush and OJ he had a more lyrical style that proved he can actually rap.

Even tho this is a very dated, generic sounding song.. he obviously shows talent on it.

It just seems like he has been progressively gettin worse.

He is the epitome of style over substance at this point.

He will make a good song every now and then, but its usually after 4-5 average or bad ones...

I actually prefer hearing Juicy J nowdays

As far as his peers go (the young nikkas with albums out) he's on the outside looking in at Drake, K.R.I.T, Kendrick, Wale, J. Cole, B.O.B and Kid Cudi as far as talent goes.

he knows how to craft dope songs.. dope hooks, dope melodies, decent bars, nice beats. good times.

i see nothing wrong with dude. cats may not like the way he dresses or whatever but GTFOH wit that, lol, who cares, leave that up to the women. some of his sh!t does sound commercial but it's dope, so it's all good. not everything that sounds mainstream is garbage

Blasphamous breh? This nikka ain't even a gawd MC to be sayin some shyt like that...chill the fukk out:huhldup:

Now back to the topic: I use to fukk with the nikka Wiz heavy(That Prince of the City 2 used to stay in rotation) I think Amber Rose p*ssy fukked his head up though. After "Roll Up":gag: dude ain't been the same since...These days homie is walkiin around lookin like a straight junkie and puttin out half ass verses that sounded like he didn't even take much time to think about. Wiz is just really a hit and miss type of rapper now and it's sad cuz he used to be one of my favorite rappers in the game

Sure he has few songs that are really good.

I enjoy some songs, but I think he ass for the most part :ld:

his image is cool tho :leon:
That doesnt make him bad, just means you dont rock with him

I dont like his music, but terrible? Theres a lot of rappers I would call terrible before Wiz Khalifa.
