My girl moved across the nation for work to a subleased apartment with a CEO who is always out of town (60% of the time) at her other property. So my chick is staying there for a couple months until I come, super nice house, but shes convinced shes recording in the living areas when she's not there and out of town.

I told her I dont think she is, and that it is illegal to record ppl unknowingly. But she seems to think that she might have cameras around and that its legal since its her property.

Anyone know?

People have surveillance around the house and in their house.Outside of your own house you are pretty much on camera everywhere.Yes it's illegal etc,but people still do it .

You can record in your house hence the term nanny cams
Yes, but unknowingly? Wouldn't it be in the contract they sign that they can be recorded?

Just like recording a conversation without knowledge you are being recorded.

I'm pretty sure you can have them in common areas like a living room bedroom etc. but bathrooms I know for sure are off limits. My pops has one in his living room. Maybe they're certain states that have different laws you might wanna look that up just to legally cover yourself

Alright preciate it man.

I'll have her check the contract. I still think you have to be notified you can be recorded. Right?

I imagine if you are in your house and have a friend over recording your conversation they couldn't use it in court if they were unaware

Thats what I thought. Even if it is your own property, you cant record anywhere other ppl are unknowingly. preciate it. Pardon the ignorance about it
no problem, I once lived in an apartment in which my neighbor decided to post up a picture of someone in the hallway near the mailbox so that way everybody could get to know each other, there were women that kiss hello'd also so I said something one day and I actually was blackballed (pause)
