Is it just me or the only people that say "money doesn't buy happiness" are usually poor as hell.

I get it there are exceptions, as with everything in life, generally speaking though, poor people are the saddest and most unfufilled people in life.

I feel this saying is just a coping mechanism for poor people

I have tasted poverty and that shyt is an horrible experience. if it's a choice between being rich and being poor, it's not even a contest:hhh:

Money doesn’t buy fulfillment or purpose and the lack of those things can bring unhappiness.
That's because fulfillment and purpose is over indulgence and "1st world problems"

Most people are happy with being able to buy comfort, never stressing over finance ever and just experiencing the finer things in life.

To put it in layman terms, poor people have genuine/more reasons to be sad, same cannot be said for the rich barring tragic events (loss of loved ones for eg)

Most people are happy with being very comfortable and just experiencing the finer things in life.

Fulfillment and purpose to a woman unable to have children naturally may be something she can never experience.

For someone else who grew up with money, it may be never having learned anything that makes them useful to anyone else.

And so on and so forth. I don’t agree that fulfillment and purpose are over indulgence. There are people with more money than they can spend who are miserable and it was nothing to do with indulgence.

That said, I’d bet more people without money are unhappier than the people with it.

“Having money is not everything not having it is” - Kanye

Money only magnifies your situation so it depends on your situation, habits, upbringing, and vices. I had more than most of my friends growing up but i saw what life in the projects looked, smelt, and felt like. Pissy elevators, syrup sandwiches, crack heads stealing shyt and kids running wild runnin trains n shyt. So poverty makes u thirsty for what u didnt have.

Too much money with bad habits tho can be destructive. I know a functioning pill head and alcohol that get paid thursday pay they bills etc and use the rest to get high on the weekend and broke monday. Rinse repeat every week. If they had more money they wouldnt make it to monday because they would OD

100% truth

People who say that remind me of the body positivity crowd. I’ve been fat before and nothing about it was positive.

Two things in life you are assured misery if you don't possess but the presence of which doesn't automatically generate happiness:

Health and wealth.
