Apparently there has been a lot of turnover with the referees and there is pretty much a fresh crop of baby faced refs that:
1) aren't that good/experienced
2) don't talk to the players
3) give quick techs to players when they argue

So because the refs haven't been talking to the players and building relationships it has been a little extra testy in the heat of the moment...

Also some of the veteran referees left are some of the worst ones (Scott Foster, Tony Brothers, Marc Davis, etc).
