Is it me or has Bam’s 83 came and went?

I personally don't care and didn't even watch the game yet.

In my opinion: comparing Kobe and Bam is basketball blasphemy.
Yes he dropped 83, respect to him. But it's not a bigger deal than 81.

Context matters in sports.

To start the league today is totally different than during the 81 - especially the reffing and the rules, and the mindset of the players.
The Miami Heat appear to have zero desire to win a Championship. The Lakers at the time were definitely trying to get a Championship.
Most of all: Kobe's 81 is magical and majestic. Without even having seen the 83 points I can already tell there was nothing magical about it.

Bam's game -at the highest level, when it matters- is pretty limited, pretty unappealing and not very noteworthy.
Kobe is #2 in my and many people's GOAT list behind MJ...

The Lakers were in the same position as The Heat currently are in hierarchy and expectation (Wasn’t Tony Battie & Chris Mihms on that team)
The Raptors were lambasted for their defend strategy back then no differently than The Wiz were

The difference was aside from the 1st quarter Bam got his super ugly
