Is it me, or has New Balance completely undergone a massive change in perception?

Newbies have been popular in the DC area since the 90s

not all of them, but select pairs were everywhere

i remember i was at a rest stop in 2004 in south carolina, and was wearing 991s, my boy had on 574s. those were the top 2 then. we saw some breh wearing nike boots, this was when NOBODY wore those except DC/MD dudes, and we knew right away we were from the same place. chopped it up waiting for a bus, reminisced on home and went on our way.

cant do that nowadays, fashion is monocultural now :ld:

Been a staple in DC/MD for years

Came here to say this. This is why I loved this area so much. I will always try and keep a fresh pair of 992s if possible.
