TL;DR version, go to the bold:
I find it a guilty pleasure to read through the Coli threads that talk about things dealing with dating, gender issues, etc. Did it for the longest time as a lurker. It seems that no one seems to want to have a change of heart even if points are brought out rationally.
After going through that “who should pay for dinner” thread and getting involved in that conversation, it got me to thinking:
Have any of the brehs or brehettes successfully gotten someone of the opposite sex to change their point of view/question themselves on something?
I’m curious about specifically dating/relationship stuff, but it could be anything really.
I’ll give an example, it’s pretty simple, but here goes:
My wife always believed that it was supposed to be the man’s job to take care of the bills if he is the bread-winner. She said that she didn’t have any desire to be involved with the finances and that she trusted me to take care of it. Cool gesture, but I told her that that was ridiculous and she needed to be involved with the finances because we’re equal partners.
Also because I’m military and I can deploy at any time, and won’t be able to tackle that stuff when I’m gone. She scoffed at it, and then I deployed not too long after that. She changed her tune real quick.
